What's excluded
Jaci's Safari Lodge was excluded as it is located in Madikwe Game Reserve, not the Kruger/Greater Kruger system, despite its name suggesting otherwise. Timbavati Safari Lodge (a Hoedspruit-area gateway property, despite its name, with no in-reserve traversing) and other non-in-reserve Hoedspruit lodges profiled elsewhere in this portfolio were excluded from this specific ranking, as they compete in a different category to in-reserve private lodges — see the Greater Kruger page for those properties.
Known limits
Booking.com listings are largely absent for ultra-luxury, agent/DMC-sold lodges (e.g. Londolozi, Singita, Sabi Sabi, MalaMala, Ulusaba) — this reflects these lodges' distribution model rather than a data gap. Google Reviews proved the hardest platform to retrieve at scale and is under-represented across the table as a result. Review counts are not used to weight scores, so a lodge with under 100 reviews can tie with one with 900+; single-source (TripAdvisor-only) scores rest on thinner evidence than multi-platform scores. Ranks 1–11 (all 10.00) and ranks 26–27 (both 8.90) are ties; the table order within each tied group is not a ranking judgment between those lodges.
