Handy hints.

What to pack

Layered city-and-wine wear for Cape Town and the Winelands, plus neutral-tone safari clothing, a warm layer for cool bushveld mornings and comfortable walking shoes. Full packing list on our Client Planning Reference.

Malaria

Cape Town and the Cape Winelands are not malaria areas. Most of Greater Kruger, including the Sabi Sand, is a malaria area — consult your physician or medical advisor before departure. (Welgevonden Private Game Reserve is a notable non-malaria exception in the region, should an alternative reserve be preferred.)

Gratuities

Tipping your guide and tracker is customary but never obligatory. See our full gratuities guidance.

Currency

South African rand is the local currency; major cards are widely accepted in Cape Town and the Winelands, with US dollars also accepted at the safari lodge.
