Handy hints.

What to pack

Lightweight, neutral-tone clothing with a warm layer for cool mornings, a waterproof jacket, a sun hat and well-worn boots. Full packing list on our Client Planning Reference.

Malaria

Parts of this route are in malaria areas — consult your physician or medical advisor before departure.

Gratuities

Tipping your guide and tracker is customary but never obligatory. See our full gratuities guidance.

Currency

US dollars are widely accepted at safari camps and lodges; carry small notes for gratuities and extras.

Planning tip

The Delta and Chobe are best in the dry season, while the salt pans come alive after the rains, so this trip is a trade-off on timing. Marula recommends at least 2 nights, so do not shorten that stay to save a day.
