Tanda Tula Safari Camp
Tanda Tula Safari Camp stands on the banks of the Nhlaralumi River in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which shares an unfenced western boundary with Kruger National Park. Reported as the oldest established camp in the Timbavati and family-run, the camp closed in March 2022 and reopened in June 2023 after a complete redesign by architect Nicholas Plewman.
The reopened camp has nine hybrid canvas, glass and thatch suites, including family suites, each with a private deck, an eco plunge pool, indoor and outdoor showers and Tsonga-inspired furnishings looking over the dry riverbed. The central lounge and bar are split-level, with a wrap-around patio, floating deck, library, gym, pool and a Wellness Nest.
Game drives run twice daily in open vehicles with a maximum of six guests per vehicle, and guided bush walks, sleep-outs and fly camping can be arranged. The camp also supports the Ground Hornbill project, guide training and a local HIV clinic. Children aged 8 and over are welcome, with bush walks for ages 16 and over; facilities for children are limited, so confirm suitability directly before booking.
