Sabi Sabi Bush Lodge is the original lodge in the Sabi Sabi collection — the 'Today' chapter of its Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow concept — built during the 1980s and 1990s as the first structure on three purchased farm portions. It sits in the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve in the south-western Sabi Sand, adjoining Kruger National Park, overlooking a waterhole. Sabi Sabi's history page names Hilton and Jacqui Loon as the owners who acquired the reserve after its 1979 establishment.

Accommodation counts vary by source: Sabi Sabi's own factsheet lists 21 luxury suites, including one accessible suite, plus three luxury villas (Mahlatini, Tumbela and Mandleve); other sources describe 25 thatched suites. Suites are air-conditioned with indoor and outdoor showers, a minibar, tea and coffee facilities and a safe, decorated in traditional African style with hardwood, natural materials and sculptures by South African artists.

Safari is by open Land Rover on morning and evening drives, plus walking trails with armed trackers and birding across more than 300 recorded species. With no fences between the reserve and Kruger, daily Big Five sightings are reported, plus cheetah and wild dog at times. Bush Lodge is the family-friendly product in the Sabi Sabi portfolio: the EleFun Centre serves ages 4 to 12 with nature-focused activities, ranger-led walks and drives and caregivers, alongside Amani Spa, a gym, two pools (including a kids' pool), the outdoor Bush Kitchen, a boma and the Bush Boutique. Access is by Federal Air to the Sabi Sabi airstrip or by Airlink to Skukuza, or about 500km by road from Johannesburg.
