nThambo Tree Camp
nThambo Tree Camp is a small, eco-oriented camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, which shares an unfenced border with Kruger National Park. The camp is operated by Sun Destinations, a camp management company with properties across South Africa and Botswana, and is solar powered.
Five chalets stand on stilts at tree-canopy level, with tented sides, thatched roofs, en-suite bathrooms with waterfall showers and private wooden balconies; each takes two guests, for a camp maximum of ten. The open-plan thatched bar, lounge and dining area overlook a waterhole with views toward the Drakensberg, with a pool and sun deck and a boma serving traditional South African dishes.
Two daily open 4x4 drives with a guide and tracker are included, along with a complimentary bush walk after breakfast on request; the camp is roughly 40 minutes from Hoedspruit's Eastgate Airport. Wi-Fi is available in the main area.
