Motswari Private Game Reserve

Motswari Private Game Reserve is set within the Timbavati and Umbabat Private Nature Reserves, in the northern Timbavati, on the Nhlaralumi River, with about 150 square kilometres of traversing and an unfenced 25-kilometre border with Kruger National Park. It was established in 1976 by Colin Harper and Freddy Pickard as a small wild dog and cheetah rehabilitation centre, and has been Geiger family owned since 1982, with Newmark Hotels & Reserves a partner since 2013.

Motswari Game Lodge, the original camp, has 15 en-suite rondavel-style bungalows with air-conditioning and overhead fans, including two interconnecting family rooms. Geiger's Camp, a former family house about 2km away, opened in 2015 with four individually styled rooms, private decks and a private oval infinity pool. Dining is African-inspired, served in the boma, on the deck or the veranda.

Two daily game drives run in open Land Rovers, with guided walks, a Giraffe's Nest overnight experience (18+) and around 350 recorded bird species. Children's policy differs by source and by camp: the main lodge takes ages 6 and over, while Geiger's Camp is reported as 16 and over (or younger only on exclusive use); confirm current age rules directly with the lodge before booking.
