Lion Sands Narina Lodge
Lion Sands Narina Lodge is the Kruger-concession-side sister to Ivory and River Lodge, set on the Sabie River within the Lion Sands reserve. Most sources place Narina within the Kruger National Park concession portion of Lion Sands bordering the Sabi Sand, rather than inside the Sabi Sand reserve itself, so it should not be described as being inside Sabi Sand without that qualification; it is listed on this page alongside its Sabi Sand sister lodges as part of the Lion Sands collection. The reserve has been family-run by the MORE family since 1933.
Narina has nine suites on stilts among leadwood and fig trees, connected by raised wooden boardwalks that give the lodge a treehouse feel. Built in thatch and timber, each suite is about 1,300 square feet with four-poster mosquito-netted beds, a tub with indoor and outdoor showers, a sitting area and a private deck with its own plunge pool. The lodge also features an artist residence, a dedicated treehouse, a spa and a fitness centre.
Because Narina traverses both the Kruger concession and the Sabi Sand, game drives cover a wide area, with off-road driving permitted and full access to the Kruger road network from the concession side. Activities include morning and afternoon drives, twilight drives, guided walks, hippo pool visits, birdwatching, astronomy talks, helicopter experiences, sleep-outs and treehouse nights, with leopard a particular highlight. Dining takes place on a main deck over the Sabie River, with an evening boma and bush meals. Wi-Fi is reported in the main lodge area only, with intermittent cell coverage; confirm children's policy and malaria precautions directly, as these are not published.
