Kambaku River Sands
Kambaku River Sands is a ten-suite safari lodge in the western sector of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which shares an unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park. The owner-run, owner-managed camp stands on the bank of a seasonal, mostly dry river under jackalberry and leadwood trees, and the main lodge is raised on stilts above a waterhole that draws game throughout the day and night.
Each of the ten air-conditioned thatched suites is about 36 square metres, with a king bed or twins under mosquito netting, minibar, safe, an en-suite with bath or soaking tub, a walk-in or double shower, an outdoor shower and a private deck; a triple/family configuration is also available. The main lodge holds a lounge with fireplace, a wrap-around bar, a sunken wine cellar and a boma, plus a pool, spa, gym, sauna, steam room, bird hide, curio shop and a conference area for up to 16 guests.
Game drives run twice daily in open vehicles, with guided bush walks, bird-watching, photographic safaris and night drives on offer. A weather-dependent sleep-out hide at Nduna Dam and community visits to Sigagule village and Nourish Eco Village can be arranged. Meals are taken on the deck, in the boma or in the riverbed when conditions allow. All ages are welcome, with a Kambaku Kubs children's programme and bush walks from age 12; confirm current age policy directly with the lodge.
