Inyati Game Lodge

Inyati Game Lodge (the name means "buffalo" in Shangaan) stands on the banks of the Sand River inside the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which shares an unfenced border with Kruger National Park. Rhino Africa describes a roughly 10,000-hectare private concession with the perennial Sand River running through it. It is a mid-to-upper-market lodge with a family-friendly, home-grown feel, rated five stars by one source.

Accommodation is generally around 11 chalets — Luxury Standard Chalets with twin or king beds and Luxury Family Chalets with additional bedding — though sources vary on the exact count. Units have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, twin basins, bath and shower, a minibar stocked on request, tea and coffee stations, hairdryers, safes and a river-view deck, with chalets set on elevated platforms overlooking the bushveld and river.

Safari activities are early morning and late afternoon open-vehicle drives with ranger and tracker teams, guided bush walks and guided fishing on the Sand River — a rare extra in the Sabi Sand. The reserve is known for leopard and holds all of the Big Five, with around 145 recorded mammal species. The main veranda extends toward the river, and the rebuilt boma hosts dinners under the stars; facilities include a bar, pool, gym, wine cellar and complimentary Wi-Fi. Access is via a short transfer from the Ulusaba airstrip, or by road from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport or Skukuza.
