Xaoo Safari Camp
Xaoo Safari Camp is a small, intimate island retreat built around cultural and community interaction as much as wildlife viewing, sitting close enough to Maun for a straightforward 60–90 minute road transfer — making it well suited to self-drive itineraries and longer, more restful stays.
Six forest tents (king or twin) are nestled into woodland and linked by a raised boardwalk, each with an outdoor shower and private deck overlooking an expansive seasonal floodplain. The main lounge and dining area shares the same panoramic outlook, giving the whole camp a secluded, low-key character.
Mokoro excursions here are led by local Wayei polers from nearby villages, paired with community-visit activities that give the camp its distinct cultural focus alongside standard game drives in the neighbouring private concession. An optional visit to Elephant Havens (an elephant rehabilitation project) is available at extra cost.
