Wilderness Chitabe

Chitabe sits on a wildlife-rich peninsula formed where the Gomoti and Santantadibe channels converge, directly adjacent to Moremi Game Reserve. Permanent water bordering the concession on two sides concentrates game year-round, and the camp has built a three-decade reputation as one of the Delta's finest predator destinations — especially for African wild dog, with at least two resident lion prides, over 50 recorded individual leopards, and a well-known breeding cheetah nicknamed "Supermom."

A recent, substantial rebuild made sustainability a core design driver: the nine tented suites sit on steel frameworks that minimise ground disturbance and avoid concrete foundations, insulated against the Delta's temperature swings and cooled by evaporative air systems. At 113 square metres each, the suites are unusually spacious for a tented camp, with high ceilings and private decks facing open floodplain.

Permitted night drives — uncommon across much of the surrounding Moremi system — meaningfully improve leopard and hyena sighting odds after dark, alongside the twice-daily game drive programme and seasonal guided walks and water activity on the Chitabe Channel. The camp funds Wild Entrust Africa's predator research, pays annual school-fee donations for staff members' children, and runs a guest-accessible solar farm as part of its energy strategy. Families needing a dedicated family room are directed to sister camp Chitabe Lediba, a short distance away in the same concession.
