Tumani Tented Camp

Tumani Tented Camp is a new, owner-run camp opening in June 2026 within the Southern Chobe Extension at Mababe, where three river channels converge. It is the sister property to MmaTsebe Tented Camp under The Okavango Collection — a new Botswana company handling sales, marketing, reservations and on-the-ground support for a small group of owner-run camps (a member of the Africa's Eden association). The property holds traversing rights into both Chobe National Park and Mababe, sits 25km from Khwai, and is positioned deliberately as excellent value rather than ultra-luxury — "keeping it grounded," in the company's own words, with an emphasis on solid guiding, comfortable tents and homely food over big promises.

Accommodation is intimate: 8 classic canvas en-suite tents plus 1 family room, each raised on a wooden platform with a private veranda and an exterior staircase leading to its own star-bed sleep-out deck above — sleeping under the stars is a built-in feature for every guest here, not an add-on activity, best enjoyed April to October. Tents have plush beds with mosquito nets and ceiling fans, flush toilets, hot (outdoor) showers, double vanities and a work table.

The main area sits under a large thatch roof with indoor and al fresco dining, an all-day bar, multiple lounge pockets, a small curio shop, a swimming pool and a fire deck overlooking the river, plus a small dedicated Wi-Fi lounge.

Activities centre on game drives through both Mababe and Chobe National Park, complemented by walking safaris. The Okavango Collection recommends pairing Tumani with sister camp MmaTsebe — just a 1.5-hour road transfer apart — to cover four wildlife areas in one trip: Mababe, Chobe National Park, Moremi Game Reserve and Khwai.
