Shinde

Shinde sits on a lush palm island beside Shinde Lagoon and is one of Ker & Downey's most historic properties — one of the earliest safari camps established in Botswana. Rebuilt in 2020, the new camp was deliberately designed to pay homage to its former self, retaining historical character while upgrading comfort; it holds five-star Botswana Tourism Board status and EcoTourism certification.

The main area is built in a distinctive "treehouse style," with lounges, indoor and outdoor dining, and a fire deck overlooking the permanent lagoon. Seven spacious en-suite tents (double or twin, extra-length/king beds) with indoor and outdoor showers, full solar electricity and standing/ceiling fans are complemented by a custom two-bedroom family tent sleeping up to 5.

With both permanent water and dry ground within its concession, Shinde runs land and water activities year-round rather than seasonally. Game drives cap vehicles at six guests with individual camera mounts (window-seat guarantee); mokoro and motorboat outings explore aquatic habitat rich in birdlife; and the concession supports the elusive sitatunga antelope and a healthy resident leopard population, with fishing available nearly year-round.

Rooms: 7 en-suite tents (double/twin) + 1 two-bedroom family tent (sleeps up to 5). Key activities: game drives, night drives, mokoro, motorboat, walking safaris, fishing (Mar–Dec).
