Savute Safari Lodge overlooks the Savute Channel, one of Africa's most curious waterways — it has flowed and dried repeatedly over the last 150 years, regardless of rainfall elsewhere, earning it the nickname 'the river that flows in both directions.' The lodge is built for privacy, with just 11 chalets and one family chalet capped at 24 guests, each with private decks and lounges facing the channel.

The main areas make the most of the setting: a high-level deck with a telescope for stargazing and game viewing, a photographic hide at eye-level with the waterhole directly in front of the lodge, and a fire deck and dining area that guests consistently rate as a highlight. Elephants are frequent visitors to the waterhole, often visible from the pool or bar.

Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles explore the wider Savute area, usually including a stop at the Savute Marsh, and a visit to the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills is on offer for those interested in the area's deeper history. Savute also hosts the second-largest zebra migration in Africa, typically running November–December and February–April, when predator activity in the region intensifies — making this one of Botswana's premier destinations for big cat sightings.
