San Camp sits on the edge of Nwetwe Pan, sharing its 400,000-hectare private concession with just two other camps (Jack's Camp and Camp Kalahari). The setting is defined by extreme minimalism — shimmering white salt stretching to a visible curvature of the earth — and the camp operates seasonally (April to mid-October) since the pans become inaccessible once the rains arrive; it is deliberately built to be fully demountable, leaving almost no trace.

Seven billowing white canvas tents (4 twin, 2 double, 1 family) favour romantic simplicity over opulence: four-poster beds, Persian rugs, mahogany writing desks and a day bed outside each tent, lit by paraffin lanterns after dark. Communal areas include an open-sided mess tent for shared dinners, a tea tent, a curiosity-cabinet museum display, and a tented swimming pool pavilion that doubles as a yoga space.

The experience centres on the pans' profound emptiness combined with desert wildlife: guided walks with local Zu/'hoasi San Bushmen sharing ancestral survival knowledge, habituated meerkat interactions, and quad-bike expeditions. Wildlife includes wildebeest and zebra herds, ostrich and the rare brown hyena, plus the seasonal arrival of 30,000 migrating zebra and wildebeest (Nov–March) and a flamingo spectacle each March–April.

Rooms: 7 tents (4 twin, 2 double, 1 family). All ages welcome. Facilities: tented pool pavilion (also yoga space), tea tent, library, museum-style curiosity cabinet. Solar-powered. Fully demountable seasonal camp (Apr–mid Oct).
