North Island Okavango
North Island Okavango occupies its own private island in a mosaic of smaller islands and shifting lagoons, in a concession just west of Vumbura and Duba Plains. Sitting at the upstream end of the Delta's flood system means it receives floodwater earlier than most camps, giving it a near-year-round window of strong water activity — and the area reportedly holds one of the highest lion densities in the Delta.
Opened in late 2023 with a bold, contemporary "African-inspired" design, the seven tents (including one family unit) sit on raised wooden decks under indigenous trees, each with a private plunge pool, sunken sundeck, over-bed cooling and a fireplace for winter. Shared spaces include a separate lounge/dining area, library, outdoor gym, firepit deck and a spa.
Activities cover all three classic modes of Delta exploration — game drives, mokoro/boat cruises, and scenic helicopter flights — plus fishing and birding (350+ species). The camp is run in partnership with local partners Nakwa and the Magobagoba Youth Trust and won Condé Nast Traveler's Hot List 2024 and Travel + Leisure's IT List 2024 for Best New Hotels.
