Moremi Crossing

Moremi Crossing sits on Ntswi Island directly across the Boro River from the southern end of Chief's Island within Moremi Game Reserve. The site carries real heritage — it occupies ground associated with Gunn's Camp, founded by Mike Gunn as one of Botswana's first traditional safari camps, once reached as often by motorboat from Maun as by aircraft, and an early precursor to the shift from hunting to photographic tourism.

The camp is one of the larger in the Kwando collection — 14 Tented Suites plus a Family Suite and a Honeymoon Tent (16 units) — built on raised wooden decks amid riverine forest of palms and ancient trees. The central guest area is distinctively crescent-moon shaped on stilts with linked decks giving sweeping views over the Boro River floodplain.

Moremi Crossing is positioned as Kwando's walking- and water-activity specialist, leveraging its location for guided walking safaris near Chief's Island alongside game drives, with seasonal mokoro and boat cruises during flood periods. Guest reviews highlight strong lion, leopard and hyena sightings, and note the tents run genuinely cool in winter, consistent with the camp's traditional, less climate-controlled design.
