Monachira Camp

Monachira Camp is located directly inside Moremi Game Reserve itself, rather than an adjacent private concession, taking its name from the Monachira Channel that runs alongside it. This waterway-centric setting is the camp's defining feature: elevated wooden decks give sweeping views over floodplains, with direct access to a network of surrounding islands and channels, making it more water-oriented than the Khwai-area camps. The camp also offers scenic helicopter flights over the Delta to view seasonal wildlife migrations — a premium activity not offered at Machaba Camp or Little Machaba.

Accommodation mirrors the scale of Machaba Camp (10 tents — two family units and eight doubles, max 24 guests) but is categorised as a step up, a "Luxury Safari Camp," with designer canvas tents offering running hot and cold water, flush toilets and electricity throughout. The build follows the same raised-deck, eco-luxury canvas style used across the portfolio, with a tented communal dining and lounge area, bar, fire pit and plunge pool.

Where Monachira differs most is its water emphasis: alongside standard game drives and walking safaris, it offers boating safaris in addition to mokoro paddling, in a wetlands environment of reed channels and floodplain islands. This makes it a strong complementary camp on itineraries built around Machaba's other Delta properties, offering a genuinely different terrain and activity profile.

Rooms: 10 tents — 2 family tents + 8 double tents. Max guests: 24. All ages welcome — family friendly. Facilities: plunge pool, tented dining/lounge/bar with fire pit, in-room spa treatments, nearby airstrip. Hybrid solar power with generator backup.
