Mbamba

Mbamba sits within a sprawling private concession in the northwest Delta, bordering Moremi Game Reserve and neighbouring Vumbura and Duba Plains. It's the newest addition to the Uncharted Africa portfolio (Ralph Bousfield, also behind Jack's Camp and San Camp), developed after Bousfield spent over a decade camping in the area. The name means "hello" in the local Bukakhwe San dialect.

Twelve canvas tents (4 double, 6 twin, 2 family) sit on slightly raised decks under leadwood trees, furnished in the classic Bousfield vintage-safari style — plush fabrics, mahogany sideboards, Persian rugs and four-poster beds. The mess area continues the theme with draped fabric and collected artefacts, two lounges, a small library and a well-stocked bar; dining is served family-style at a long communal table.

This is one of the highest wildlife-density areas of the Delta — large buffalo and elephant herds, some of the region's highest lion concentrations, and a known wild dog denning area nearby. Guests combine day and night game drives with mokoro and motorboat outings, and birding across 350+ recorded species. The camp supports the CLAWS communal herding and Elephant Express conservation programmes.
