Mankwe Tented Retreat

Mankwe — Setswana for "mother leopard" — is a serene retreat on its own expansive NG43 private concession east of the Moremi Game Reserve, with Chobe National Park to the north and Maun around two hours south by road. Run by Hideaways Africa, the lodge is surrounded by mopane trees and open wilderness, with regular sightings of elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and African wild dog.

Accommodation comprises 10 elevated Meru-style tented suites on raised wooden platforms, each with a private viewing deck over the bush, blending rustic charm with contemporary comfort. Camp facilities include two swimming pools, spa services, communal lounge spaces, and an open-air boma dining area; Wi-Fi is available in the business lounge only, and the camp runs on solar power. Children aged 7 and older are welcome.

Activities include morning and afternoon game drives across the private concession and into Moremi Game Reserve, full-day safaris into Moremi, Khwai and the Chobe Corridor, guided bush walks, birdwatching, and seasonal mokoro trips and boating when water levels allow.
