Letaka Safaris

Letaka Safaris is a citizen-owned Botswana safari operator established in October 2000 by two brothers — locally referred to as "the Letaka brothers" — who between them bring nearly 40 years of combined guiding experience, having started leading mobile safaris in Botswana in the mid-1990s. The company has grown from an owner-guided operation into a full mobile safari outfit employing several of Botswana's most experienced guides, and is a co-founder of the African Guide Academy (formerly the Okavango Guiding School), a training institution that has helped raise guiding standards across the country and produced many of Botswana's leading guides.

Letaka's core product is the mobile tented safari: rather than fixed lodges, guests travel between a sequence of private campsites, each set up in advance by a dedicated crew ahead of the group's arrival. Tents are described by the company as "mobile tented safari," not basic camping — spacious canvas tents furnished with proper beds, bedside tables, LED lighting, en-suite bathroom facilities, a washbasin and a covered verandah. Camp staff handle all cooking and camp operations, freeing guests to focus on game viewing. Both scheduled (set-departure, small-group) and fully private, tailor-made itineraries are offered, running across Botswana's key wilderness regions — the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the Khwai Concession and Mababe River Private Reserve, Moremi Game Reserve, the Okavango Panhandle, the Kwando River area, the Chobe River and Savuti — with some itineraries extending into neighbouring Namibia and Zambia.
