Grassland Safari Lodge

Grassland Safari Lodge sits on the edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in the Ghanzi District, a drier, more open landscape than the Delta camps. Its defining feature is a highly productive waterhole directly in front of the lodge that draws wildlife day and night, giving guests passive game viewing without leaving the property, alongside more active pursuits like horseback safaris across the grasslands.

Accommodation is in 8 comfortable en-suite chalets overlooking the waterhole, arranged around a thatched relaxation area and pool. The lodge is family-run by owners Neeltjie (formerly De Graaff) and Tiaan Bower, with the hospitality style framed as personal and multi-generational, citing a family tradition in the area spanning over 135 years.

What most sets this lodge apart is its cultural programme: Neeltjie is a sixth-generation, Naro-speaking descendant with deep ties to the local San/Bushman community, and the lodge markets what it describes as the most authentic and comprehensive Bushman experience in Southern Africa — walks, toolmaking and village-life immersion — layered on top of conventional game drives, a Wild Dog research project, and resident white rhino.
