Elephant Pan (formerly Hyena Pan) sits in the sandy mopane forest of the drier interior of Khwai Private Reserve, bordering both Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park. Its defining feature is a productive natural water pan directly in front of camp, drawing large numbers of elephant (the wider Chobe/Khwai ecosystem is thought to hold close to 10,000), buffalo, hippo, giraffe and predators including lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.

The camp favours understated comfort over opulence: eight tents (7 twin/double, 1 family) face the waterhole, each solar-powered with international plug points and a gas-heated en-suite shower. Communal areas — dining deck, lounge, pool and open-air boma — all keep the waterhole in view, which is illuminated at night for nocturnal wildlife viewing, and the camp runs a 24/7 public livestream camera on the pan.

Beyond passive waterhole viewing, activities include guided game drives, night drives, walking safaris, a sunken underground photographic hide, and an optional Skybeds star-bed sleepout. The camp supports the Wild Dog Dispersal Study and early childhood education in Khwai Village.

Rooms: 8 tents (7 twin/double, 1 family), facing an illuminated waterhole. Children 6 years and older. Facilities: swimming pool, open-air boma, lounge, underground viewing hide, 24/7 waterhole livestream. Solar-powered.
