Dinaka

Dinaka occupies a private 40,000-hectare game reserve on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve — an entirely different ecosystem from Ker & Downey's Delta camps, a 60-million-year-old semi-arid Kalahari biome. This "thirstland" habitat concentrates desert-adapted wildlife around pans and waterholes, with high-density sightings of black-maned Kalahari lion, leopard, cheetah, brown hyena, honey badger, Cape fox, porcupine, oryx and springbok.

Eight thatched tents (including one two-bedroom family tent sleeping 5) are connected by raised boardwalks, each with a king bed, mini bar/coffee station, indoor/outdoor shower and a shaded verandah overlooking the camp's own waterhole — also visible from the central lounge, dining and bar area for passive game viewing. Distinctive infrastructure includes underground and above-ground photographic hides, an elevated observation deck, and a sleep-out deck for stargazing; the property is wheelchair-friendly.

Activities centre on day and night game drives with off-road access, plus guided armed walks and an educational cultural component with local San Bushmen including traditional tracking demonstrations. Dinaka is a 35-minute flight south of Maun with a 55-minute flight connecting directly to the Okavango Delta camps, making it a natural desert-and-wetland pairing within the KDB portfolio.
