Chobe Savanna Lodge
Chobe Savanna Lodge sits on the Namibian side of the Chobe River, looking south across floodplains and the Puku Flats toward Chobe National Park. It's a small, intimate lodge — 13 safari chalets, two of which can interlead — wrapped in wetland and grassland with 270 degrees of water on view from almost every angle. It reopens on 16 May 2026.
The chalets are raised slightly on wooden platforms with a glass-fronted design and private viewing decks, split between west- and east-facing wings for privacy, with the main lodge area positioned at their head. All meals and drinks are included and served communally, with private dining available on request, and the lodge's setting means the final leg of every arrival and departure is by boat — there's no vehicle access.
Twice-daily activities run from the lodge's own fleet of hard-bottom aluminium boats: motorboat safaris for an immersive, water-level view of elephant, hippo, giraffe and birdlife, and slower skimmer boat cruises for a sunset or brunch on the river. Catch-and-release fishing for tigerfish and bream is available outside the January–February closed season, and birding is exceptional throughout, with African skimmers, fish eagles and a wide range of resident and migratory species.
