Camelthorn Bush Camp

Camelthorn Bush Camp is a rustic, small-footprint safari camp set on a private concession between the Moremi Game Reserve, the eastern fringes of the Okavango Delta, and Chobe National Park, about a two-hour drive (92km) from Maun. It's run by Hideaways Africa with a deliberately simple, close-to-nature style — proper beds and comfortable linens paired with traditional bucket showers and solar-powered lighting, rather than the polished finishes of the operator's larger lodges.

Accommodation comprises 7 Oasis Tents with twin beds (which can be pushed together) and en-suite bathrooms, sleeping up to 14 guests. Camp facilities are simple and communal: a bar tent with a charging station, a dining tent with a tea/coffee station, and a lounge tent, all solar-powered with wireless internet available in the main areas. Children aged 7 and older are welcome.

Activities include morning and afternoon game drives in the private concession, full-day excursions into Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai area, and night drives for nocturnal sightings. Mokoro (traditional canoe) excursions and boat trips into the wider Okavango Delta can be arranged at an additional cost when water levels allow. The camp typically operates from April through September.
